Jill Simpson Right Place Right Time

While working with Gaylord Hall Productions, I served as Lead Editor on two University of Oklahoma Distinguished Alumni award profile video stories. Jill Simpson is a University of Oklahoma alum who pursued a career in the film and media industry. She moved to LA and worked on feature films, but later in her career moved back to Oklahoma to run the state’s film and music office. Jill played an important role in convincing Twisters to film in Oklahoma with the state’s cash rebate incentive program. We scheduled a sit-down talking head interview Jill in Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication's recently renovated news studio.

During the preproduction stage, we successfully planned and executed the creation of a background graphic containing multiple notable projects that Jill has played a role in. During the post-production process, my responsibilities included organizing, managing, and labeling footage in a shared network drive, syncing interview video and audio, and cutting the interview and audio into sub-clips to use in the final cut. The final cut also featured original b-roll footage of Jill at film industry events in Oklahoma along with clips from trailers of projects that Jill has worked on, with all footage, sound, and music falling under the category of Fair Use.
